Dr. Saffold, a board-certified otolaryngologist, earned his undergraduate degree in Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, before completing medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. During medical school, he received multiple academic honors and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed a general surgery internship at the State University of New York at Buffalo, followed by a research fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where he participated in NIH-funded immunology research focused on tumor biology and immune response.
